Some people are born with a gift for being able to get their limbs to do what they want them to. I am not one of them. All those short people who run around all quick-like, doging back and forth... It's not really fair. When I try to turn on a dime, my feet may stop but my upper body is thinking "I really want to keep on moving." You can probably imagine what happens.

That had absolutely nothing to do with what I plan on writing but I'm thinking it got your attention enough for you to read the rest. That's what opening paragraphs are for. They grab you by the neck, pull you in and don't let you go until the story is done. Anyway, without further ado, the subject of this post, as suggested by Vanessa, is the dime.

It's the smallest of coins. With inflation and all that, a lot of people don't notice them. They are merely an extra bit of coin that is added to your change after buying something. A few years ago I started collecting dimes, nickels and pennies. It was never more than a few at a time but when I got them in my change, I'd put them in my jar. Over time, the collection grew and I currently have about $50 in small change. Looks like those insignificant coins aren't quite as unimportant as they seem.

We as Christians are called to be imitators of Christ. This means treating people like he did, loving like he did, healing like he did and more. In our day to day lives, we often get so focused on doing the 'big' things for God that we forget the small stuff. These big things need to be done, don't get me wrong, but it becomes easy to forget all those little things: Smiling at someone who's looking down, spending time listening to someone who need to vent, helping out with chores around the home, encouraging people around you... the list goes on. On their own, like the dime, they may seem insignificant but in the same way that dimes add up, so do those small deeds. Over time, those little things can have every bit as big an impact as those 'big' good deeds.

The next time you get some small change, think of it as a reminder to imitate Christ in the small ways as well as the big.

*sigh* I need to get up for work in six hours. I think I'm going to go to sleep now.

God bless you all and have a great day!
