First of all, I wish to apologize for the lengthy amount of time that I have not posted in this blog. It's a combination of not having a lot of time and not being able to think of something to write about when I do have time.ย Well, I still don't have anything to write about but I thought I'd give a quick blurb to let y'all know I'm still alive...
Relax, I'm just kidding. Honestly, why haven't you learned to not take me seriously all the time? Of COURSE I have something to write. The subject kind of gives that away, doesn't it?
A while back, I wrote an article about dimes. Specifically, how even though they are small, they will add up over time to make something very valuable.
This story started off as something small. I was bored one evening and wandered into a chat room. I struck up conversation with one individual, added her to my messenger list, and we chatted forย a number of hours. Once she got comfortably talking to me, she started to share what she was going through. There were a lot of personal issues she was dealing with. Issues of confidence, issues of self worth, problems in her family and probably more. She hated life and wanted to die.
I probably chatted with her until two in the morning. (Back when my shift at work required me to get up at five.) I stuck with her though because I knew that this was important and God had brought me to her for a reason.
That was a few years ago and I have talked regularely with her ever since. Her life didn't get any better for probably about a year. After that, things slowly started to turn around. She got a job working in a different town, she got to know some new people and she met a great guy.
I very recently got the news that they are now engaged. I really can't put into words the joy I felt at that news. Every one of those late nights spent chatting was more than worth it to know that they were used to make a difference in her life. That first time chatting may have been a 'dime' in the grand scheme of things but the result of that initial investment is worth millions. Someone's life always is.
Remember that in your day-to-day encounters. No matter how small the gesture, it may be used to change someone's life forever. Praise God that I could be used in such a way.
