The short people, that's who! I speak out on behalf of all tall people in this post!

We are the ones who hit our heads on doorframes. We are the ones who can reach the top shelf in the grocery store. We are the ones who, wherever we go, are asked the question "How tall are you?" People do not identify us by what kind of people we are. They identify us as "that tall guy" or "that freak". That time shall come to an end!

Okay, I've had my rant. Time to get down to business. I am referring to Matthew 10:22 where Jesus says "All men will hate you because of me."

I think that this is very easy to misunderstand. Are ALL men going to hate me because of Jesus? Why then did all men not hate Jesus? A lot of them rather liked him. Crowds followed him from place to place. If they all hated him, they would have attacked him. I think it's time to look at who it was that hated Jesus. Well, the Pharisees did, the religious elite, some of the Romans... There were probably more but there seems to be a common trait among those who hated him. It's pride. With all of these people, Jesus did something to hurt their pride. With the Pharisees, he called them out in public for their hypocrisy. With the religious elite, he was a carpenter who astounded them time and time again when arguing about the scriptures. With the Romans, he was heralded as a King.

If we are to be imitators of Christ, we must prepare to be hated by others. Not by the everyday Joe, but by the proud.

Last thought before I wrap this up. If we are consumed with pride, that makes us haters of Christ as well. Avoid pride at all costs. Remember, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
